The Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre is part of Fraser Health’s plan to better meet health care needs in the Fraser Valley and decrease congestion at Surrey Memorial Hospital. The new centre which opened in 2011 will improve the quality of care for Fraser Valley residents by providing a full range of scheduled outpatient services, including day surgery, diagnostic services and specialized health clinics.
BCHS Healthcare (Surrey), a private sector partner to Fraser Health was responsible for the financing, design, construction and maintenance of the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. In 2008, a contract between BCHS and Fraser Health was signed and the Centre was delivered on-time and budget on March 31st of 2011.
BKS is a pre-approved contractor with the Fraser Health Authority and is a data solution sub-contractor for Nightingale Electrical Ltd., the firm that was awarded the contract for the electrical and data wiring for the centre. The installation timeline set for Nightingale and BKS was very aggressive.
BKS provided testing equipment that was kept on-site at all times with the ability to test the entire building as quickly and as efficiently as possible to keep with scheduling deadlines. They were able to keep to tight schedule and never missing a deadline and with Nightgale Electric's leadership, the centre was delivered on-time.
BKS provided a complete Belden Cat 6 solution for the data networks that included an OM3 multimode fibre installation. Fibre cable was also installed for outdoor security cameras and added security panic buttons that were installed for all the parking lots for the center.
Nightingale Electrical along with their sub-contractors (BKS being one of them) won the Vancouver Regional Construction Association “VRCA” Gold Award of Excellence, an award for use of special techniques, procedures, new materials and additional artistic or innovation.
